The Los Angeles Times has published a feature by Stuart Miller on the upcoming publication of American Gun: The True Story of the AR-15. Elinson and McWhirter spoke with Miller about the long strange history of the rifle, from a Los Angeles garage to the most popular -- and most hated -- rifle in America. The rifle was developed by inventor Eugene Stoner in the 1950s in Southern California. The book will be published Sept. 26, but you can pre-order here.
