USA Today: Hacked Data shows U.S. AR-15s showing up in large numbers at Mexican crime scenes

USA Today reports that hacked data from the Mexican Defense Ministry show a large amount of American-sold firearms are being used in Mexican violent crimes. The most traced firearm by Mexican authorities from 2018 to 2020? The Anderson Manufacturing AM-15, a Kentucky-made inexpensive AR-15 variant. As we discuss in American Gun: The True Story of the AR-15, the AR-15 has been used across the U.S. in mass shootings, but it also has been used in gang wars and other violence across Latin America (including the civil war in Colombia). For more information on U.S. guns fueling Mexican violence, see Professor Ieva Jusionyte's new book Exit Wounds.
